Canon LP-E4 Battery

 The Canon LP-E4 Battery is a high performance battery introduced with the launch of the EOS-1D Mark III. Compared to the 1,200 shots from the NP-E3 battery used in the Mark II N, LP-E4 weights in at a whopping capacity of 2,200 shots in the Mark III according to CIPA standards. This improvement is possible mainly due to the change in the material used – no longer using NiMH, the LP-E4 benefits from the higher power density inherent in lithium-ion batteries. It is also lighter and more compact than the previous battery models. LP-E4’s integrated electronics can monitor charge cycles and adjust the battery gauge readout as the battery's capacity changes. Thereby allowing the battery info dialog to report more charge levels and the percentage remaining in the battery.
